Wow Notebook

After seven months of working on the Woman of Worth Notebook project, I’m so happy with the result… and really happy that we have our first 100 available for sale. *Grin*

The biggest factors of the project were to ensure that as much as possible women were involved in the making of the Wow notebook, and to ensure that the price was affordable… which proved to be the biggest challenge.

Although I’ve had the first batch of Wow Notebooks for more than a few weeks, I was concerned about the cost to produce them, and the resulting selling price to make the product a continuously viable Wow product.

A few weeks ago I asked my hubby Dave, to go and buy a “Get Well” card and a “Congratulations on the birth of your baby” card, for two of my friends… which of course he did. Out of interest while we were unpacking the shopping after he had given me the cards, I asked him how much they were. He didn’t know so we went in search of the till slip… and I was shocked to find that one was R30.00 and the other R35.00!

We are a little out of touch as my daughter and I usually have fun making cards… now I know why. *Smile*

It did give me pause, and I realised I can either take the step and set the prices according to the cost… or I can just give them away, and not be able to continue the project.

I’ve already given a lot away, as Christmas gifts, birthday presents and thank-you gifts. *Smile* Each time, I’ve received words of sincere appreciation and encouragement.

Thankfully, I also have friends, who have bought some Wow Notebooks for even more than I would have considered… giving me an extra boost of confidence. *Smile*

The Wow Notebook with the Woman of Worth poem printed on the first seven pages, was handcrafted in Hluhluwe, Zululand with handmade paper and a hand beaded motif by South African Women of Ilala Weavers.

The inner paper and back card is manufactured in South Africa from 100% post-consumer waste and no bleach has been used, resulting in a wonderful tactile texture and appearance of this recycled paper.

Each notebook is 12 cm x 12 cm in size, and includes 50 pages.

  1. Gorgeous Lady,
This is a fitting tribute to you and all of the local women who have contributed their talents and hard work. Already you have put food on tables and smiles on faces, this is truly a righteous project.
Every day you and our Daughter make me proud and happy, Heavenly Father loves you and appreciates all that you do. Truly you are both choice hand maidens of His court…
    Love You Lots

  2. This design is spectacular! You definitely know how
to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your
words, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!)
Great job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how
    you presented it. Too cool!

  3. You’re so interesting! I do not think I’ve truly read something like that before.
So good to discover someone with a few original thoughts.
Seriously.. thanks for starting this up. This web site is one thing
that’s needed on the internet, someone with a little originality!

  4. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal.
I must say you have done a excellent job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick
for me on Opera. Outstanding Blog!

    • LOL Angie… I’ll be there in three weeks… can you imagine the divine appointments & our creators purpose in that… Let me know how many you would like… my stock is really low, now, and it’s a long process to make, so I’ll find out how many they have available…. as the covers are handmade with handmade paper, and the printing is on special recycled paper and board… all by women. 🙂
