Alex Boyé said it best, in the song of the same name, “We All Bleed the Same!”

…and when you give the gift of donating blood, or when you receive the gift of a blood transfusion, there is no way to know if the blood is going to a friend… or foe, someone who lives in the same suburb, or is the same race, or colour and creed as you are. Likewise, when you receive the lifesaving gift of a blood transfusion, you don’t know who, or even where it came from. *Smile*

Recently, a friend who was undergoing a lifesaving operation in Durban, received blood from SANBS in Gauteng, as there was no local supply of his blood type.

Although, I’m not able to donate blood anymore, my family is, so I try and ensure that they do so regularly. SANBS had a blood drive at Dave’s company on Friday, 8^th December 2017, where he diligently gave his “pint of blood” and received a Christmas gift as the first donor of the day. 🙂
